NASA Vows to Front Oburu Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka's Son to East Africa Legislative Assembly
Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed says that National Super Alliance (NASA) will still forward Kalonzo Musyoka’s son, Kennedy Musyoka, and Raila's brother Oburu Odinga as their nominees to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
Speaking during parliament proceedings on Wednesday, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Elections said the opposition will still front the two, even after Jubilee vehemently opposed the nomination of the two in the 11th Parliament.
“And if we get our four slots we will give one slot to Dr. Oburu, another one to the vice president’s, Kalonzo Musyoka, son. The other two we can check other Kenyans then we put them in the list,” clarified Junet Mohamed.
Jubilee Party MPs led by the leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale vowed to oppose the nominees from the NASA's top leadership families .
“And please do not bring your girlfriends. We want to tell the political parties don’t bring your relatives, don’t abuse the position you have in the party. If you are the party leader don’t nominate your brother, your sister or your daughter or your son,” said Duale.
Kenya failed to forward its representatives to the East Africa Legislative Assembly after the 11th Parliament failed to agree on the names to be fronted. This was after Jubilee opposed the nomination of both Oburu and Kennedy Musyoka.
Jubilee has five slots out of the nine given to Kenya, while the opposition will take the remaining four.
