Raila: My Tour to the United States Was Successful
National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has described his one week tour to the United States as successful, stating that he achieved his mission.
In a video posted on his Facebook page, Raila noted that he was delighted to return to Kenya on Friday after successfully holding discussions with leaders in the US on the presidential elections in Kenya.
"We have a lot of friends in the USA; I have met with leaders, professionals and businessmen and briefed them on the situation back home. There's a lot of interest in Kenya. I look forward to returning home tomorrow. Asanteni," he said in a statement on his page.
"I have had an opportunity to meet leaders in state department congress...there is a lot of interest in Kenya. I have met professionals,and businessmen and briefed them on the kind of challenges we are facing following the bungled elections," he added in a video accompanying the statement.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader also said he was satisfied with how he was received in the US.
"I am happy with what I have seen here and I'm happy to come back home. We have a lot of friends in the USA. Thank you and see you," he said.
A grand reception at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport has been planned for the opposition leader. On Monday, Nasa leaders in the country said they would stage a one million-man march to the airport to welcome him, and thereafter, converge at Uhuru Park grounds for a mega rally.
