Raila: A Third Election is Meaningless
Opposition Chief Raila Odinga now says that another election will not be a solution to the crisis that is currently in the country.
Speaking during a presser at Okoa Kenya offices in Nairobi on Saturday, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader said that Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is crowded by criminal elements who will never allow s free, fair and credible election be held, noting that a fresh election would be meaningless.
“A third election does not offer a way out of the crisis because at the moment the IEBC is riddled with criminal elements who will never allow a credible election to be held,” he said.
Raila further said he will next week announce a raft of measures the opposition will use to resist President Uhuru Kenyatta's illegitimately formed government.
The National Super Alliance (NASA) leader also condemned the killing of his supporters during an engagement with police officers on Friday as he returned to the country from the United States after a 10-day trip.
"It is so unfortunate; we want to condole with all the families of the relatives. We are all mourning as a country for losing such young innocent lives to a state that has no sense to protect its citizens."
"None of you will be forgotten. You did not die in vain. You sacrificed your lives for the cause of democracy as it gave you the freedom to choose your leaders and determine the direction of your country,” he said.
