Mudavadi Downplays Claims of Abandoning Raila

National Super Alliance (NASA) principal Musalia Mudavadi has downplayed claims that he, together with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka are warming up to ditch Raila Odinga and the opposition.

The Amani National Congress (ANC) leader dismissed speculation doing rounds that he and Kalonzo, who has been in Germany for one month where his wife, Pauline is receiving treatment, have agreed to join President Uhuru's camp after being wooed to by emissaries of the Jubilee party.

“There is no truth in that. No one has talked to me or any of my colleagues. That is cheap propaganda. Why would anyone want to talk to Jubilee at this point in time. It would be counter-productive to enter into any discussions at the moment. We had suggested that we talk about electoral reforms before October 26 but they declined. Why would we be the ones now willing to talk to them?” Mudavadi asked.

The former Vice President further ruled out possibilities of the Nasa coalition holding any dialogue with President Uhuru's side, stating that such a move would be a betrayal to the opposition followers and their publicly pronounced reform agenda.

“We have not talked to anyone from the Jubilee Party, neither do we intend to hold any discussions with them in the near future. Any meeting with Jubilee at the moment would be of no use as it will not achieve anything positive for the country,” Mudavadi told the People Daily.

“Where have they been all along? To tell us to talk to Jubilee now is not possible. That chance has long been lost,” Mudavadi said.
