Raila Unveils New Strategy to Cripple President Uhuru's Administration
National Super Alliance (NASA) has unveiled a new strategy to cripple President Uhuru's administration.
The opposition alliance has ordered its MPs to boycott the vetting of President Uhuru Kenyatta's appointees to the Cabinet. This was one of the five-point resolutions arrived at a meeting at Maanzoni Lodge, Machakos County on Saturday, chaired by Raila Odinga.
"We have not individually and collectively delegated our sovereignty to Uhuru Kenyatta," the report read.
"We don't recognise the elections for we have not delegated our sovereignty to Uhuru...we ask Opposition MPs not to participate in the vetting of Uhuru's cabinet and other appointments," Nasa principal Musalia Mudavadi said.
Nasa further called on Kenyans to boycott the inauguration of President Uhuru at Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani on Tuesday, and instead turn out in large numbers at Jacaranda Grounds in Embakasi on the same day for a memorial service of victims of police brutality.
Nairobi police commander Japhet Koome however indicated police would not allow the NASA rally, since the coalition has not obtained a permit.
"We are not aware about it. We have not been notified. So, whoever thinks he has intentions to do that [and] he does not involve police, why don’t yoTl that person that the law will deal with such a situation firmly?" Koome said at a press briefing on Saturday.
