NASA Vows to Ensure Raila Assumes Office as President
National Super Alliance (NASA) has declared that Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as the legitimately elected President and Deputy President respectively.
Speaking after arriving at five-point resolutions at a meeting held in Maanzoni Lodge, Machakos County on Saturday and chaired by Raila Odinga, Nasa vowed to ensure Raila assumes office as President.
"We recognise Raila as the legitimate president of Kenya and as sovereign people we will see to it that they assume office,"Nasa chief campaigner Musalia Mudavadi said.
He added: "We know that on August 8, Kenyans voted for Raila who emerged winner. Raila and Kalonzo won that election. What we have done will always be in the framework of the constitution."
Nasa also asked its MPs to skip the vetting of president Uhuru's appointees to the Cabinet once presented in Parliament.
"We don't recognise the elections for we have not delegated our sovereignty to Uhuru...we ask Opposition MPs not to participate in the vetting of Uhuru's cabinet and other appointments..." Mudavadi said.
Nasa further asked Kenyans to skip president Uhuru's inauguration at Moi Sports Center, Kasarani on Tuesday, and instead attend memorial service of police brutality victims at Jacaranda grounds in Nairobi.
"Kenyans should ignore the inauguration of Uhuru and join us in person or in spirit in Jacaranda Grounds to mourn our people," Mudavadi said.
