Mudavadi's ANC Party Threatens to Ditch NASA

John Wanjohi Nov 30, 2017

Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress Party (ANC) has threatened to quit the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) over Parliament leadership list.

ANC has accused their coalition partner, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) that is led by Raila Odinga of taking all leadership positions in Parliament for themselves while sidelining other parties that form the alliance.

Speaking at Parliament buildings on Wednesday, ANC Deputy Party leader Ayub Savula said the party is considering walking out of the coalition and accused ODM of shortchanging other affiliate parties in Nasa.

“We regret the list and we are forced to ask Musalia mudavadi out of NASA as we focus on 2022,” said Savula.

Nasa MPs from the Coast region have also resisted the list of house leadership submitted to the National Assembly and the Senate. The MPs claimed that the list lacked gender and regional representation.

The list submitted to the Parliament on Wednesday named Bungoma senator Moses Wetangu’la as the Senate Minority Leader (FORD Kenya), deputized by his Siaya counterpart James Orengo (ODM).

In the National Assembly, Suba South MP John Mbadi was named as National Assembly Minority Leader (ODM), while Robert Mbui is the National Assembly Deputy Minority Leader (Wiper).

Makueni senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr is the new Senate Minority Whip (Wiper) and deputized by nominated senator Petronilla Were (ANC), while Junet Mohammed is the National Assembly Minority Whip (ODM). Chris Wamalwa was appointed as National Assembly Deputy Minority Whip (FORD Kenya).
