NASA Appoints David Ndii to Steer Raila's People's Assembly

National Super Alliance (Nasa) has announced a seven-member committee that has been tasked with steering the operations of the coalition's people's assembly.

The team will be chaired by Nasa economic strategist, David Ndii and will assume the role of coordinating the operations and programs of the assemblies in the counties that have approved the motion to form the assemblies.

The committee is expected to table a report to Nasa principals before December 12th, a day opposition leader Raila Odinga announced he will be sworn in as President. Former nominated Senator Judy Sijeny, Oduor Ong'wen, Dr Mutahi Kangu, Peter Mathuki, Hamida Kibwana and Koitamet Olekina are other members of the team.

Speaking to the media at Okoa Kenya offices in Nairobi on Friday, former senators Johnstone Muthama and Boni Khalwale unveiled the seven-member team. Muthama and Khalwale said majority of Kenyans boycotted the October 26th repeat presidential election and as such, President Kenyatta, who was declared the winner lacks the mandate of majority of Kenyans.

"Kenyans have been asking us about the way forward after the election, today we have unveiled a committee that will continue to update the people on the way forward," said Mr Muthama.

They vowed to proceed with the activities of the People's Assembly despite a court order issued by a court in Kitui barring County Assemblies from discussing the motion to create the assemblies.

"That court was not constitutional and was pushed by busy bodies," Khalwale said, adding that 15 counties have so far passed the motion and others will follow soon.
