Foreign Envoys Pour Praise on President Uhuru for His Commitment to Rule of Law
President Kenyatta has received credentials from five new Foreign envoys, days after he took Oath of Office for his second and final term as President.
The five new heads of diplomatic missions included Awere Phibby Otaala (Uganda), Alison Chartres (Australia), Denys Toscano (Ecuador), Myint Swe (Myanmar) and Wilhelm von Trott (the Sovereign Military Order of Malta).
Speaking at State House in Nairobi, the diplomats heaped praise on President Uhuru for his commitment to the rule of law and preaching peace during the electioneering period, which was marred by high political tensions and uncertainty.
“On behalf of the President and people of Uganda I would like to congratulate you on your peaceful campaign which the whole world has been watching,” said Ugandan High Commissioner to Nairobi, Awere Phibby Otaala.
The new Australian Ambassador Alison Chartres delivered a congratulatory message to President Kenyatta on behalf of his country for his reelection.
In attendance was Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed and Principal Secretary Monica Juma attended the functions. The President welcomed the envoys and encouraged them to focus on strengthening bilateral relations between Kenya and their countries for mutual benefit.
