Githeri Man to Receive State Honour from President Uhuru
Martin Kamotho, alias Githeri man, is among individuals to be honored by President Kenyatta with the coveted State commendation as the country marks the 54th Jamhuri Day celebrations.
Kimotho rose to prominence after photo of him carrying Githeri in a plastic bag while lining up to vote in the annulled August 8th election, went viral on social media.
Others in the list of Head of State commendation (Civilian Division) include controversial blogger Robert Alai, gospel singers Ben Githae and Rufftone, Citizen TV reporter Jackie Maribe, State House Digital Communications Director Dennis Itumbi, events manager Thomas “Big Ted” Kwaka, State House Director of Public Communication Munyori Buku and Hellen Nkaiserry, the wife of the late Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery.
Others are Evangelists Lucy Ngunjiri and Teresia Wairimu, Billy Arocho and boxer Fatuma Zarika. The Head of State is scheduled to issue the State commendations – Orders, decorations, and medals to individuals, in recognition of their distinguished services rendered to the nation in various capacities and responsibilities.
The highest honour is the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (C.G.H) followed by Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (E.G.H.), then the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (M.G.H.).
Others are Uhodari Medal, Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (C.B.S.), Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (E.B.S.), Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (M.B.S.), the Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya, the Distinguished Conduct Order, the Distinguished Service Medal, the Silver Star of Kenya and the Head of State’s Commendation (Military Division and Civilian Division).
