Recognise Raila As a Statesman, Jubilee MP Urges President Uhuru
A Jubilee Party Member of Parliament has asked President Uhuru to recognize National Super Alliance (NASA) Raila Odinga as a statesman.
Addressing the press on Wednesday, Manyatta MP John Muchiri asked the Head of State to recognise the Opposition chief as a statesman, saying that it was inappropriate to assume that Odinga, who commands a huge following in the country, can be wished away.
Muchiri, who was speaking in Embu, further called for the formation of structures to grant Raila space to articulate national issues, saying that it is no longer tenable for the ruling party to continue dismissing the Opposition leader.
“Raila is not just an ordinary politician. Let us appreciate him and probably give him a platform to advance genuine political issues as the leader of Opposition instead of living in denial,” he said.
Odinga, who pulled out of the race for the October 26th presidential election has declared he will not recognise Uhuru as a legitimately elected president.
