Mt. Kenya Leaders Pledge Support for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 State House Bid
A section of Central Kenya leaders led Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria and Murang’a Women Representative Sabina Chege have assured Deputy President William Ruto that the region will rally behind him as he seeks to succeed President Kenyatta in 2022.
Speaking on Friday when they attended the burial of former Belgut MP Eric Keter at Sosiot, Kericho county, the leaders told the DP to ignore rumours suggesting otherwise, noting that the region is solidly behind his bid for presidency in the next election.
“Forget the small talks suggesting otherwise over who should succeed the president. The entire central region is fully behind you,” Kuria told Ruto, who was also in attendance.
Kuria called on Ruto to work tirelessly with President Uhuru to ensure that he leaves behind an enviable legacy. Kuria said doing so, would boost his state house dream.
On her part, Sabina Chege vowed to lead Mt Kenya leaders in drumming up support for Ruto in 2022, once he declares his candidature.
Speaking at the service, Ruto pleaded with MPs, governors and other leaders to encourage residents to enroll for National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), saying it will enable Kenyans get easier access to medical services.
