Deputy President Ruto takes a Swipe at Governors Leading Demos in their Counties
Deputy President William Ruto has taken a swipe at a section of governors leading demonstrations in their counties, saying they behave like “activists” and “comedians”.
Speaking during the closure of Governors induction in Kwale on Saturday, Ruto told the county heads that its their work to create investor friendly environments within their counties. The DP noted that this cannot happen if Governors are the ones at the forefront of unnecessary protests.
“We should not scare away hope of development by carrying twigs. If we leaders carry twigs then what should activists do,” said the DP.
“Investors were attacked and chased away by goons in one county and leaders are saying that ‘we don’t want seminars in our areas," He said without referring to any specific counties.
“If you are at the fore front of demonstrations in your county as a governor then how do you expect investors to settle in that area?” asked Ruto.
Hr pledged that the national government is ready to work with all devolved governments irrespective whether they are inclined to ruling or opposition parties.
“Our offices are open any time for consultation on development. We will support you in delivering services to the people.”
