Seven People Die in Grisly Road Accident along Nairobi-Mombasa Highway
A grisly Saturday morning road crash at Sultan Hamud area along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway left seven people dead, while one sustained serious injuries.
The eight were heading to a funeral in Makueni when the hearse they were travelling was involved in a head-on collision with a Nairobi-bound truck.
Confirming the incident, Makueni County Commissioner Mohammed Maalim said the driver of the hearse was trying overtake another vehicle when he collided with the truck.
The critically injured man was rushed to the Machakos Level Five hospital. The driver of the truck escaped with no injuries.
In a separate road accident on Saturday, one person died and four others were critically injured after a Toyota Hilux collided with a lorry in Makindu area near Kibwezi, Makueni County on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. Makueni AP Commander Joseph Neipeyan said the vehicle was trying to overtake before colliding with the trailer.
