Mudavadi Says He Rejected Jubilee's Job Offer to Stay in NASA
Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader, Musalia Mudavadi claims that Jubilee has been luring him with a top government appointment to have him ditch National Super Alliance (NASA).
Speaking during an interview with KTN News on Friday night, the NASA co-principal said that emissaries working for President Kenyatta approached him several times with a promise of a position, but he turned down the offer.
Mudavadi said he is keen to stay in NASA and continue pursuing its agenda, mainly electoral justice.
”It’s not in the cards nor table, I am a founder member of NASA, and it’s a household name whose values I believe in. If there are any issues, we will solve them within NASA,” he said.
He also declared his interests in succeeding President Uhuru in the 2022 general elections, but he will have to first battle it out with fellow co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper and Moses Wetang'ula of Ford Kenya for the opposition outfit's flag bearer, if the coalition stays put until the next polls.
”My ambitions remain, I have never denied that I want to serve this country as the President of the People of Kenya. If they want me to do so, that can be actualized in a free and fair electoral process,” he added.
Last week, Mudavadi made similar assurances that he has no plans of dumping the Odinga-led alliance.
“Some leaders in Jubilee are pleading with me to abandon the reform train. That I should calm down; let them get on the gravy train. They don’t know what steel I made from. This is my New Year message to them; let me assure you I cannot jump off this electoral justice reform train into an empty cattle carriage."
"Electoral reform is not for Raila or Mudavadi. It is for posterity. It is for all Kenyans. Every vote must count. Elections must stop being a ritual of theft. Elections must stop being a conspiracy of one, two or three tribes to steal from others. Every Kenyan must have an opportunity to vote and to win or lose fairly. Kenya is not a monarch,” he said.
