Jubilee MPs Warn Raila, Kalonzo against Planned 'Swearing-in'

John Wanjohi Jan 01, 2018

A section of Jubilee Members of Parliament have warned National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka against 'swearing in' themselves as people’s President and Deputy President respectively, saying they will suffer consequences.

Led by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and his Ainabkoi counterpart William Chepkut, the leaders said the opposition's plans to install the two is unconstitutional, noting that its time for the country to move on after an extended electioneering period.

Speaking when they attended New Year’s celebrations in Eldoret, the MPs asked Kenyans to ignore the opposition and go on with their normal businesses.

“Everyday NASA comes up with new threat, boycotts, demonstrations and people’s assemblies. President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto want to embark on transforming this country and not politicking,” said Kuria.

“Instead of fighting for national unity, they are now talking of secession and resistance. That will not work for them but if they want they can go ahead and do so,” said Kuria.

Chepkut said that President Kenyatta was duly elected by Kenyans on the October 26th repeat presidential election, and that the constitution does not recognize any other President.
