Raila's 'Swearing-in' is a Political Sideshow, NASA MP Says

John Wanjohi Jan 02, 2018

Another National Super Alliance (NASA) Member of Parliament has rubbished the planned "swearing in" of opposition leader Raila Odinga as the people's president.

Addressing supporters at Shikoti grounds in Kakamega, Lurambi MP Titus Khamala said the alleged inauguration of Odinga will not make him the head of state, terming it as a political sideshow.

The MP further said that Kenya has a president and opposition leaders should, therefore, focus on strengthening NASA coalition in preparation of 2022 presidential elections.

“We must focus on strengthening NASA ahead of 2022 elections, parties including Jubilee have challenges but we must overcome that and aim at clinching power,” he said.

He hit out at Raila's Orange Democratic (ODM) party for sidelining other NASA affiliate parties, particularly, the African National Congress (ANC) during the sharing of key positions in Parliament committees.

“They took everything, sidelining other affiliate parties, particularly ANC, after Nambale MP John Bunyasi lost his bid for the public accounts committee to Opiyo Wandayi,” he said.
