IEBC Dismisses Elections Results By NASA Showing Raila Defeated President Uhuru
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has dismissed the results released by National Super Alliance (Nasa) on Friday showing that its leader Raila Odinga trounced President Kenyatta in the August 8th, 2017 elections.
In a statement, the electoral commission accused the opposition outfit of presenting false information to Kenyans about the August 8th poll.
IEBC said that the information released by Nasa on Friday reveals what it termed as "a total misunderstanding of how the results system worked" during the polls.
”The presentation by NASA totally misleads the public on the results pathway, the servers, information on the public portal and the forms used to declare results. We can only conclude that this is a deliberate effort to create a non-existent reality about the elections of 2017,”IEBC Vice Chair Connie Maina said in a statement.
During a press conference at Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi on Friday, Nasa unveiled a document that it claimed contained authentic and un-tampered results of the election that was nullified by the Supreme Court.
”This is it. This is the document that contains results of the election in 2017, in which more than 80 per cent of Kenyans participated,” Orengo said. ”In this document you'll find all the details of polling stations including their codes,” he added.
Results in the dossier showed that Raila garnered 8.1 million votes against Uhuru’s 7.9 million.
