MPs Moses Kuria, Babu Owino Trade Harsh Words on Social Media

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria and his Embakasi East counterpart Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino have engaged in war of words on social media.

The tiff started after Babu, in a post on Facebook, described Kuria as a “village elder”. Babu's post came days after Kuria lashed out at Nairobi senator Johnstone Sakaja for bailing out Babu from a police detention.

Kuria questioned why Sakaja helped the "small boy" get out of police cells instead of letting him stay there and learning some manners.

In a post, Babu wrote: “Moses Kuria was a SONU (Students Organisation of Nairobi University) treasurer, a position that was a preserve for ladies. I was a SONU chairman for 4 terms. I will never argue with a village leader with jiggers infested in the brain.”

However, possibly angered by Babu's post, the fiery Gatundu South MP in response via Facebook maintained Babu was a small boy.

“A small boy says that the position of SONU Treasurer is reserved for girls,” posted Kuria.

He went on: “First, the year I was elected SONU Treasurer is the year Babu Owino was born. I am not in any way suggesting that I could be Babu’s mother; but secondly, the last SONU Treasurer before me was a leader of NRM (National Resistance Movement) Miguna Miguna.

“That’s where Babu Owino gets it right. When you have your uprising led by a senior girl guide like Miguna Miguna, you start to see it for what it is."

"In fact, I now totally agree with Babu Owino. NRM and #Resist are illusory projects led by Alice Lakwena Miguna Miguna," Kuria concluded.

Kuria went further to advise opposition leader Raila Odinga to abandon the planned swearing in, stating that some of his allies are misleading him.

“Be afraid jakom,” Kuria said.

“These expeditionary kinsmen of yours will send you to the gallows next week. You will thank me later-but you won’t! Dead men tell no tales!”
