Remove President Uhuru's Portraits and Replace them with Raila's, Miguna Miguna Directs NASA Supporters

Former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Miguna Miguna has asked National Super Alliance (Nasa) supporters to remove President Kenyatta's portraits from their businesses, offices and any other place with immediate effect.

Miguna, a self-proclaimed National Resistance Movement (NRM) general, urged the opposition backers to bring down any portrait bearing the image of the head of state and replace them with that of Raila Odinga, who was sworn-in as people's president on Tuesday.

"We are ordering NRM soldiers to take down Uhuru portraits from all homes, businesses and every premise they occupy," Miguna Miguna said.

Speaking to the media at the Nasa Okoa Kenya offices in Lavington, Nairobi on Thursday, Miguna noted that the coalition will facilitate the production of legitimate portraits of the people's president, Odinga, and issue them to supporters. "... and we will distribute the portraits ourselves. We are going to do it in an organised and fashioned way," he said.

This comes a day after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i declared the NRM an organized criminal group.

Miguna, who helped administer oath on Raila on Tuesday, also dared the government to arrest him for being at the center of Odinga's swearing in. "Matiang'i if you are looking for me, I am ready and I have been ready since I was a teenager," he said. "...we fought retired President Daniel Moi and defeated him. You [Matiang'i] are nothing," Miguna said.

Ruaraka MP, TJ Kajwang, who together with Miguna administered the oath, was arrested outside Milimani law court on Wednesday and was arraigned in court on Thursday before being freed on a Sh50,000 bail.
