Former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Miguna Miguna has allegedly suffered an Asthma attack while in police custody, his lawyer has said.

Taking to Twitter, lawyer Edwin Sifuna, who represents Miguna claimed that he suffered the attack at Lari police station on Sunday, where he's being detained.

Sifuna alleged that despite the attack, the OCS at the station declined to allow him offer help to his client.

“It’s true. We recieved info that Miguna has suffered an Asthma attack. I have with me an inhaler but the OCS has become hostile. He won’t let me see my client to give him the medication,” said Sifuna.

Miguna was apprehended at his residence in Runda home, Nairobi on Friday for being one of the leaders at the centre of controversial ‘swearing-in’ of opposition leader Raila Odinga as people’s president.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti said the lawyer was arrested for a number of reasons including being a member of National Resistance Movement, which was recently declared a criminal group by government.

“Miguna publicly declared that he is the general of NRM, which is already declared a proscribed group. By the time he declared publicly, there was a gazette notice by the minister. How can we let it go? We are law enforcers,” said Kinoti.

Miguna had also on Thursday directed Nasa supporters to remove President Kenyatta's portraits from their business premises and replace them with those of Raila.

"We are ordering NRM soldiers to take down Uhuru portraits from all homes, businesses and every premise they occupy," Miguna said.

"We will distribute the portraits ourselves. We are going to do it in an organised and fashioned way," he said.

Miguna is still in police custody even after the court ordered he be released on Sh50,000 cash bail.
