Warrant of Arrest Issued against Embakasi East MP Babu Owino

The court has on Monday morning issued a warrant of arrest against Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili, better known as Babu Owino and his bodyguard Fanuel Owino.

Milimani law courts senior principal magistrate Martha Mutuku gave the order after the two declined to appear in court for the mention of a case where they are accused of assaulting a parking attendant.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and his bodyguard were charged on January 22nd for allegedly physically assaulting David Gichagu, a parking attendant at Fortis Towers in Westlands, Nairobi, on January 11th.

The two reportedly committed the offense with accomplices who were not in court.

Babu was separately charged with two other counts of using abusive language and creating disturbance.

The two pleaded not guilty while appearing before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, and were released on a personal bond of Sh.20,000 each.

The mention of the case had been slated for February 5th, 2018.
