Moi: President Uhuru Will Endorse My Presidential Bid in 2022
Baringo senator Gideon Moi is confident that President Kenyatta will endorse his presidential bid in 2022.
Speaking in Rongai, Nakuru County on Sunday, the Kenya African National Union (KANU) chairman indicated that there exists a good relationship between him and the president, noting that “Mr Kenyatta knows what he will do when that time comes”.
“I assure you that I do not have a problem with the President. Let us give him space because currently, he has a lot of issues. We should support him,” Moi said during his elder brother Raymond Moi’s homecoming ceremony, after he was re-elected as Rongai MP.
Leaders who attended the fete urged Mr Moi to officially declare his quest for presidency and begin putting up strategies ahead of the 2022 race.
“Since your people have asked you to go for the top seat, I urge you to start walking,” Trans-Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba said.
Political commentators have argued that President Kenyatta is likely to face a dilemma over who to throw his weight behind, between Deputy President William Ruto and Moi.
Its has been argued that, although he has constantly promised to rally behind Ruto, President Uhuru might be tempted to repay his political godfather, former President Moi, by endorsing his son.
