Miguna Miguna Charged With Aiding Raila to Commit Treason, Refuses to Take Plea
Former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Miguna Miguna was on Tuesday morning charged before Kajiado Court.
A charge sheet presented at Milimani Law court by assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Nicholas Mutuku stated that the lawyer with being present and administering an oath on National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga.
“On the 30th day of January 2018, at Uhuru Park in Nairobi County, jointly with others not before court, were present and consented to the administration of an oath to Raila Amollo Odinga purporting to bind the said Raila Amollo Odinga to commit a capital offense of treason," the charge sheet read in part.
The self-declared Nasa's National Resistance Movement general was further charged with being part of an illegal assembly and being a member of NRM.
However, Miguna refused to take plea to the charges and demanded that he be freed so that he can reunite with his family in Nairobi.
"I cannot take any plea because the state has denied me access to my family. For five days, I have been locked up unlawfully," he said.
