Why NASA Youths Burnt American Flags Outside Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi

John Wanjohi Feb 06, 2018

A group of aggrieved National Super Alliance (Nasa) youths on Monday set ablaze several American flags in protest of what they described as United States' support of theJubilee administration.

The youths formed a large circle outside Milimani Law courts in Nairobi and set on fire the flags, while chanting anti-USA slogans.

This comes days after US Donald Trump's administration through a statement issued by State Department dismissed the swearing-in of opposition leader Raila Odinga conducted last Tuesday, terming it unconstitutional.

"Uhuru Kenyatta was elected President of the Republic of Kenya on October 26, 2017, in a poll that was upheld by Kenya's Supreme court. Grievances must be resolved through appropriate legal mechanisms,” the statement read in part.

The youths had gathered outside the court premises in solidarity with former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Miguna Miguna, who had been scheduled to be arraigned after spending several nights in police cells since his arrest last Friday.

However, Miguna, who was arrested for being at the centre of Odinga's controversial swearing-in was not brought to the court.
