Gov't Suspends NASA Strategist David Ndii's Passport

John Wanjohi Feb 06, 2018

The Immigration Department has suspended the passport of National Super Alliance (Nasa) strategist Dr. David Ndii.

In a notice dated January 5th and addressed to Ndii, director of Immigration Maj. Gen (Rtd) Dr. Gordon Odemo Kihalangwa ordered the economist to surrender the travel document at the Immigration department within 21 days.

"In pursuant to Section 31(1) (2) of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act (2011), you are hereby notified that Passport Number C051258 which is in your possession remains suspended forthwith," part of the notice read.

Reacting to the suspension via Twitter, Ndii accused Kihalangwa of using non-existent law to withdraw his passport.

"@GKihalangwa suspends passport using non-existent section of law (3(1)(2) not citing reason as required. Sycophants are born, not made," He tweeted.

Citizen TV reports that it has reliably learned that Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Siaya Senator James Orengo and businessman Jimi Wanjigi will also have their passports recalled.

Last week, the government launched a crackdown on key figures in the opposition who were at the center of the swearing-in of Nasa leader Raila Odinga.
