I'm Not a Coward, Will Take Oath as Deputy People's President, Kalonzo Declares

John Wanjohi Feb 06, 2018

I am ready to be sworn-in as deputy people's president, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has declared.

Addressing the press at Wiper headquarters in Nairobi after chairing a National Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday, Kalonzo said Nasa will remain intact despite squabbles within the coalition.

"We do not want to issue empty dates and then we do not swear in. The commitment is still there, and how I wish I could be sworn-in even now," Musyoka said.

Musyoka said Nasa co-principals will on Friday meet to address any differences that arose following last week's swearing-in.

The absence of Musyoka, and co-principals Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang'ula at the ceremony has threatened to sink the coalition.

"Our opponents are not within Nasa. We are more than ever before committed to the unity of Nasa," said Musyoka.

"We are strong as Nasa. We do not fear. Skipping the event was a plan. We will not retreat," he said.

He vowed: " I am not a coward. We are ready to move this country forward. We have all sacrificed for it."
