Miguna Miguna Deported to Canada, Says Lawyer

Irungu Thairu Feb 06, 2018

Self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general Miguna Miguna has reportedly been deported from Kenya to Canada.

Miguna’s lawyer, Nelson Havi said on Tuesday night that reliable sources from the JKIA and the Miguna family informed him of his client’s deportation

Miguna was placed into a KLM flight departing Nairobi on Tuesday night for Amsterdam, said Havi.

“We are reliably informed that Miguna Miguna has been forced into a KLM flight for “deportation” to Canada. Now, how do you deport a Kenyan? This Country has been overrun by criminals,” wrote Havi on Twitter.

Havi said Miguna is a dual Kenyan-Canadian citizen, adding that his Kenyan passport has been suspended by the government.

Miguna Miguna was arrested last week at his Runda home in connection with the swearing-in event of Raila Odinga as the people’s president on January 30th. Just this morning, Miguna was charged before the Kajiado Court with being present and consenting to the administration of an oath to commit a capital offense of treason contrary to Section 59(a) of the penal code.

Miguna acted as the registrar of the Supreme Court in the ‘swaring-in’ ceremony presided by Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang.  Kajwang was also arrested and has been charged with illegal assembly and administering an illegal oath.
