Raila Dares Gov't to Arrest, Charge Him With Treason

Opposition chief Raila Odinga has dared President Kenyatta and Jubilee government to arrest him over the controversial January 30th swearing in, where he took oath as people's president.

Speaking on Saturday at Emsakhami in Vihiga County where he attended the burial of father to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communication, Philip Etale, Odinga said he is unafraid of being charged with treason over the oath.

"I will not be intimidated and I will continue to work as the ‘People’s President’ of the Republic of Kenya,” said Raila.

He went on: "I don't fear to be charged with treason because in 1982 I survived."

He further hit out at Jubilee administration for disregarding court orders and the arbitrary arrest of key opposition figures involved in the January 30th oath plan. He accused the Head of State of being an enemy of the Constitution.

“Our Constitution has since 2013 faced its nemesis in President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto."

“If we don’t demand that everyone from the President downwards submits to our Constitution and to the constitutional organs that we created to keep them accountable to us, then we shall have allowed a “State capture” by a few individuals and we shall cease to be citizens of our country and become subjects to a political oligarchy,” he said.

The National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader said plans are underway for him to start executing his mandate as people's president following the swearing in.

"We are already in Canaan. We are now putting in place structures that will enable us to execute our mandate, whether they (government) like it or not,” he said.
