Gov't Makes Major Reshuffle of Top Officers in the Police Service
Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has made a major reshuffle of top officers in the police department. In the new changes announced on Thursday, Nairobi Police commander Japheth Koome was named as the new Principal assistant to Deputy Inspector General.
Joseph Ole Tito, who was the Anti Stock Theft Unit commandant will replace Koome as Nairobi police boss.
Kingori Mwangi is now the new commandant in Kiganjo Police Training College, while Joseph Kodi, who was the General Staff Officer, is the new commandant of Anti Stock Theft Unit.
Julius Kitili, a former Director of reforms, has been appointed the new Western Regional commander, while Boniface Maingi has been moved to KPS headquarters from Director of personnel.
Noah Mwivanda, who was the director of community policing, children and gender has been named the new Coast regional Commander, to replace Larry Kieng.
Presidential escort Rahab Siamanda has been transfered to the police AIDs Control unit.
Last month, President Kenyatta made a major shakeup in the National Police Service, retaining only IG Boinnet at the top.
In the earlier changes, President Kenyatta fired Deputy IGs in charge of Administration Police and the Kenya Police, Samuel Arachi and Joel Kitili respectively.
Long-serving Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro was also shown the exit door.
