It is Now Business Unusual, President Kenyatta Tells New Cabinet Secretaries as they Take Oath

President Kenyatta has on Friday described his new Cabinet as talented, competent and one that reflects the face of Kenya.

Speaking during the swearing-in of nine new Cabinet Secretaries at State House in Nairobi, the Head of State warned the newcomers against misusing their positions.

“This is not a platform of self-actualization and pandering to ego, it is a rare calling and honour bestowed to very few…” said the president.

“My government promises to give Kenyans better services. Kenyans expect an open, transparent and accountable government,” added the president.

The President asked the new team to roll the sleeves up and begin working to ensure his big four agenda in the second term, which include; food security, affordable housing, manufacturing and affordable healthcare are realised.

“It is now business unusual not as usual…” he said.

“Should you at any time feel the weight is too much, just say so, there are other Kenyans ready to the job,” he added.

Nine Cabinet Secretaries among them Margaret Kobia (Public Service), John Munyes (Mining) Amb. Monica Juma (Foreign Affairs) Farida Karoney (Lands) and Peter Munya (East African Community) took oath of office following their approval by Parliament on Wednesday.

Others are Keriako Tobiko (Environment) Simon Chelugui (Water) Ukur Yatani (Labour) and Rashid Achesa (Sports and Heritage).
