Ceremony to Welcome Kisumu Governor Nyong'o from the US Turns Chaotic

A thanksgiving ceremony organised to welcome back Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o from the United States, where has been receiving treatment for the past several weeks turned ugly after aggrieved locals chased away two leaders from the event.

Kisumu Senator Fred Outa and Kisumu Central MP Fred Ouda, who have been accused of undermining Governor Nyong'o in his absence, were forced to scamper for safety after irate residents threatened to beat them up.

Emotions run high after Nyakach MP Aduma Owuor claimed that the two were behind a scheme to take over from the Governor, who has been out of the country for the last few months after he underwent a hip surgery at the University of California Hospital in the United States.

“When you were away, some busy bodies were going round peddling lies that you promised them they would take over from you,” he said at Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground.

In his speech, however, Nyong'o avoided the matter and instead reiterated his commitment to fulfilling his pledges to residents of the lakeside city.

“I was also working while out of the country. I had discussions with some American investors and we hope to deliver some medical machines in two weeks,” he said.
