Fred Matiang'i: I'm Ready to Resign if Found Guilty of Defying the Law

John Wanjohi Feb 17, 2018

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i now says he is ready to resign from his position should he be found guilty of defying the law in his operations.

The no-nonsense Cabinet Secretary has constantly found himself at loggerheads with the opposition coalition, National Super Alliance (Nasa), who continue to accuse him of operating outside the law.

The opposition solely blamed Mating'i for the maiming and killing of opposition supporters by police during last year's electioneering period and the recent crackdown of Nasa leaders involved in the swearing in of Raila Odinga on January 30th, shutdown of media houses, and the deportation of National Resistance Movement (NRM) self-declared general Miguna Miguna.

However, speaking in Kebirichi, Nyamira County on Friday, Matiang'i stated he strictly follows the law in his execution of duties.

He said, "People have been accusing me of working outside the confines of the law but that is purely malice and propaganda."

"If found guilty of such I will not hesitate to bow out of the office. I am waiting the day someone will come with concrete allegations against me," he added.
