Kamba Elders Tell Kalonzo to Dump Raila For President Uhuru

John Wanjohi Feb 21, 2018

A group of Kamba Elders from Machakos county have urged Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to ditch National Super Alliance (Nasa) for President Kenyatta's Jubilee party.

The Elders, who are members of Mau Mau war veterans association said the only way the former Vice President can save his political future is by joining Jubilee camp.

In a statement read by chairperson Rev. Johstone Kiiti, the elders asked Musyoka to stop allowing opposition leader Raila Odinga to misuse him.

“We love Kalonzo and we want him to work with President Uhuru. We do not want him to be in the opposition, because it was us who fought for independence. Kalonzo was going on well previously, we do not know what or who derailed him along the way,” said Rev. Kiiti.

“Come home Kalonzo, you’re not hated, you are loved. You are like our prodigal son,” added the elder.

They also commended Kalonzo for heeding to their call of not taking oath as people's deputy president.

"We thank Kalonzo for accepting the elders' advice of not taking an oath as the People’s Deputy President together with Raila on January 30th," Kitili said.

Last month, the veterans had threatened to curse Musyoka if he agreed to take the oath.“We, the Mau Mau, have not been consulted in all this, go ahead at your own risk. Your families and relatives will be seeing a lot of punitive changes in their health. It is us who are cursing you, there is no Canaan you are going,” they said in a statement prior to the "swearing in ceremony."
