Miguna Miguna Plans 10-Day US Tour to Popularize NRM

Deported former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Miguna Miguna has announced he will embark on a 10-day tour to the United States in a bid to popularize the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

The self-declared general of NRM said the tour will begin on March 2nd and will have him visit Washington DC, New York, and New Jersey.

He will then take a break before traveling to Houston, Dallas in Texas. He has called on Kenyans living in the US to turn out in numbers and support his cause.

Miguna was dramatically deported to Canada by the Immigration department on February 6th, days after he was arrested for administering an oath on National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga on January 30th.

Immigration authorities said the author was banished for being in the country illegally.

“When Miguna left this country in 1986 to Canada, there was no dual citizenship. He ceased to be a Kenyan citizen after acquiring his Canadian passport in 1988. All this time he has never reclaimed his citizenship since the new Constitution,” said Immigration Director Gordon Kihalangwa.

“I do not understand how he came back and operated in Kenya after relinquishing his passport. However, he has time to reapply to reclaim his citizenship through the appropriate procedure,” Kihalangwa added.
