Raila: I Smell Betrayal in NASA
Opposition leader Raila Odinga has predicted an impeding betrayal within the National Super Alliance (Nasa) coalition by individuals he declined to mention.
Speaking in Siaya county on Saturday during the burial of uncle to Siaya senator James Orengo, Benson Atinga, Raila claimed that cowards have began abandoning their journey to Canaan but said that the move will not deter the coalition from marching forward.
“I smell betrayal, but even Jesus was betrayed by one of his closest disciples, Judas. Some people may want to betray us,” he said without elaborating.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader further told opposition supporters to brace themselves for a fresh and tough onslaught on President Kenyatta's Jubilee administration.
“We are heading for the roughest stretch of the journey that will not require cowards. Some people are growing cold feet. They are claiming the road has been blocked and that we should return to Egypt,” he said without mentioning names.
He continued: “Tougher things are coming. Our journey to Canaan is still on. We are not returning to Egypt. Don’t give up."
“We are like a people who are fasting as they await better things ahead,” he said of his silence, adding: “The dove is up there in the tree but it has heavy matters in its chest”.
Raila also said the coalition is ready to engage Jubilee in dialogue to end the political crisis in the country, and dismissed claims that Nasa is on its death bed.
"Kenya has become a country of impunity and we will not allow it to reign forever. We are ready to take any step to ensure that they are liberated from the jaws of leaders who are not interested in their affairs," he said.
"You should dismiss reports that Nasa is on the verge of collapse. We will remain united until we achieve our goals," said Odinga.
