John Wanjohi Mar 05, 2018

A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leaders have declared that Opposition chief Raila Odinga will be on the 2022 presidential ballot.

Speaking on Sunday, the group, led by newly appointed ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna said that Odinga will not endorse any of his fellow National Super Alliance (Nasa) co-principals namely; Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetang'ula or Musalia Mudavadi for the country's top political seat in the next general elections.

At a church service in Mathare, Nairobi on Sunday, Sifuna said the opposition outfit will not select "cowards" as their presidential flag bearer.

"If you were not at Uhuru Park [Swearing-in of Raila] do not come to us for consideration of any manner. You are simply a coward," said Sifuna.

Sifuna added: "We are not afraid of anyone."

Godfrey Osotsi, an Amani National Congress (ANC) nominated Member of Parliament said he will marshal youths to rally behind Raila's 2022 presidential bid.

"We are firm because we are confident Raila is the only man to deliver this country from the hands of cartels," he said.

"We are already in a bad state as a country. Jubilee is muzzling the Judiciary with threats to remove the Chief Justice. We need people who can lead," said Mathare MP Antony Oluoch.

Other leaders present were Uriri MP Mark Nyamita and his Alego Usoga counterpart Samuel Atandi.
