Kalonzo Wants NASA Turned into a Political Party

John Wanjohi Mar 25, 2018

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka says that National Super Alliance (Nasa) coalition should formally be registered as a political party ahead of the 2022 general elections.

Speaking on Saturday, Kalonzo said registering the coalition as a political party would make it a formidable force to face Jubilee in the next polls.

However, the Nasa co-principal said the registration should be done without folding its affiliate parties; Wiper, ANC, Ford Kenya and ODM.

Kalonzo, who spoke at Machakos Woman representative Joyce Kamene Kasimbi's homecoming at Wamunyu ABC Primary School in Mwala, maintained that the alliance was still intact despite the infighting.

"....this was the case of the National Rainbow Coalition (Narc) that propelled former president Mwai Kibaki to power in 2002. Narc was registered without dissolving the Liberal Democratic Party and the National Alliance of Kenya (NAK)," he said.

Musyoka also disclosed that last week Nasa Summit meeting agreed that Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula, who was removed as Senate Minority Leader on Tuesday, would retain the seat.

The Summit is constituted by Kalonzo, ODM leader Raila Odinga, ANC's Musalia Mudavadi and Wetangula.

“That is not true, you cannot seal the fate of Wetang'ula," Kalonzo said about the removal of the Ford Kenya's chief.

Kalonzo was flanked by MPs Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini), Patrick Makau (Mavoko), Daniel Maanzo (Makueni) and Irene Kasalu (Kitui).
