Woman Rep. Urges President Uhuru Kenyatta to Marry a Second Wife, Take Her to State House
Mombasa Woman Representative Asha Hussein has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to marry a second wife in order to set a precedence for Kenyan men on polygamy.
Asha, who spoke when she attended a civic education forum in Mvita, said President Uhuru should set an example by marrying a second wife, stating that polygamy is the best form of marriage.
“Muslims are allowed to marry four wives, we want Christians to marry nine wives like Akuku Danger. There is too much promiscuity in Kenya and the dangers include sexually transmitted diseases,” she said.
She added: “I urge President Kenyatta to lead by example and marry another woman to live in State House. The woman should be introduced to Kenyans in the glare of cameras. Tell us that you support polygamy."
The first time MP further called on Kenyan women to free their husbands by allowing them to marry more wives.
“Tunataka mpango wa kando wawe mabibi. Mr Kenyatta said Christians are also allowed to marry more than one wife but are you ready? Women are you ready to allow polygamy?” she posed.
Her sentiments come days after Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba last week sparked a heated debate after she asked wealthy Kikuyu men to consider marrying many wives.
Wamuchomba said that polygamy would help reduce the number of children being raised in absence of their fathers, which she argued that it has led to serious social problems among the youth, including alcoholism.
