Kenyans on Twitter Launch #Ifikiewazazi Campaign to Shame Youngsters Sharing Obscene Photos on Social Media

Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) have launched a campaign under hash tag #ifikiewazazi to publicly shame youngsters posting nasty photos on social media.

The campaign aim at widely sharing the indecent pictures in the internet until they reach to their parents, guardians or relatives.

Kenyan teenagers have been using fake social media accounts to post and share obscene pictures and videos of themselves. The #IfikieWazazi campaign was unveiled on Wednesday, but youngsters have opposed it.

It all started after a young girl on Twitter told off critics who had stormed her account after she shared a video dissing his boy. The unidentified young woman asked “haters to mind their business” and let youngsters enjoy their freedom.

“ Like you boys have very stupid aims though, if I decide to show off my body, like it is mine, I will show it off till the day I die. And if you don’t like it b***h die first,” said the girl.

The clip went viral under the hashtag #ifikiewazazi and later turned into a campaign to expose photos and videos of youngsters behaving badly.

Here is a sample of the reactions on Twitter.

@xtiandela said: "Going through the #IfikieWazazi with shock and utter disbelief! My mouth wide open and my heart literally shredded into pieces!!..#KOT..WHERE DID WE GO WRONG?!?!..My Goodness!!..We have Failed this generation!!..Morals down the drain!! Kids practicing daylight porn on the streets."

@ivy_mwelu: "Yaaaani where are we heading? Heading where are we?a lot going on these streets #ifikiewazazi."

@shemobara: "#ifikiewazazi Don't be surprised when shooting in CBD is going to be banned...then now one can't make street art as a photographer or a creative because some high schoolers who couldn't control their hormones ruined it for everyone."

@MarigaWangombe: "The main reason #ifikiewazazi was trending initially wasn't even for morality purposes. It was because photographers don't want their reputations tainted and their access to public spaces restricted. What exactly is annoying the rest of us with the photos?"

@That_guy_moha: "#IfikieWazazi this hash tag would be alot more effective on facebook....i mean that's where Aaaall parents are...ata wale wa ocha wanakuanga fb."
