I'll Be Your Governor in 2022, Babu Owino Tells Nairobi Residents

Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has once again declared that he will run for Nairobi Governor seat come 2022. 

Speaking on Thursday, the first time MP called on his constituents to work with him as he looks to succeed Governor Mike Sonko in the next general election. 

Owino spoke when he joined demonstrating traders at Savannah area, Embakasi East on Thursday. He noted that he didn't wish to stick to one position for a long time like he did during his spell as a student leader at the University of Nairobi.

"I have been under a lot of pressure, my head is blowing up. When you are going about your businesses, please remember to pray for me. What I know in 2022 I'm your governor. I don't want to be Mugabe," he said amidst thunderous applause.

Last year, Babu said he would contest for Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2022 and for Presidency in the 2027 general elections.

 "I will go for Nairobi Governor and in 2027 I will be your president so zoea rais wako mapema (get used to your president in good time)," The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP said during an interview with a local TV station.
