Jubilee MP Warns Kenyans against Electing a 'Hustler' as President

John Wanjohi May 18, 2018

Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has warned Kenyans against electing a 'hustler' as President.

In what appeared as a warning against electing Deputy President William Ruto as President in 2022, Wambugu cited Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's failure to live to the expectations of many city residents since assuming office about seven months ago.

"Nairobians decided to elect a ‘hustler’ as Governor of the capital city of Kenya. See your life," Wambugu said in a tweet.

The first time MP, who has openly opposed Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, said Sonko's case should make Kenyans reconsider their choice for President in the next elections.

"As for those who have been selling the ‘Hustler-for-President’ brand. You will need to reconsider. It’s just been destroyed," the Jubilee MP noted.

Ruto has been selling himself as a 'hustler', a term used locally to refer to a person who is a son of the poor man and who has worked his way to success.

"Those who want to make 2022 a competition between ‘hustlers’ .. and or ‘royals’ aka ‘dynasties’ ..See your life. Uhuru Kenyatta is ‘royal/dynasty’. When you attack ‘royals/dynasty’ you attack Uhuru Kenyatta," wrote Wambugu.

"And as Uhuru said recently, you can’t fight people based on where they were born, coz no one chooses where they are born.
Meanwhile .. don’t fight against rocks when you are standing on one."
