British Court to Sentence a 72-Year-Old Man for Raping Two Underage Kenyan Girls
A British man is set to be sentenced by a United Kingdom court after he was found guilty of raping two Kenyan girls.
Keith Morris allegedly committed the offences while he was on a holiday at the Kenyan coast. Britain's National Crime Agency said Morris, a former locksmith from the northern city of Hull, was found guilty of nine child abuse offences on Tuesday.
The 72-year-old was convicted by Leeds Crown Court after a trial where witnesses from Kenya testified via video link.
"A Hull man who befriended and helped vulnerable families in rural Kenya to gain access to their children has been convicted of nine child abuse offences," the agency said.
A joint investigation by NCA and Kenyan police found that Morris had toured a village in coastal county of Kilifi, and "frequently took local children away for trips, where he would buy them gifts and stay with them in hotel rooms".
He is said to have sexually abused underage girls in 2016 and 2017. The judge will read a sentence to him on July 17th.
The pensioner was further found guilty of obstructing justice after the NCA established that he had transferred cash to people in Kenya "in exchange for helping him to prove his innocence".
