Treasury Increases Deputy President Ruto's Wife Rachael Ruto Budget By 700 Per Cent to Sh118 Million
The office of Deputy President William Ruto's wife, Rachael has received a 700 per cent increase in budget for staff hiring for the next financial year.
The Treasury has set aside an additional Sh103.7 million for Rachael's office for hiring staff, increasing further the burden of keeping State officers and their families comfortable on Taxpayers.
Business Daily says that Ruto's wife office will now receive Sh118.5 million for the year starting July, up from Sh14.7 allocated to the same office in the current year for staffs. This represents a 707 per cent growth.
In total, the office will receive a budget of Sh305.6 million in the coming fiscal year, up from Sh187.2 allocated in the current year. The allocation for First Lady Margaret Kenyatta's office has also been increased to Sh437 million, up from Sh430m in the current year.
The millions allocated by the Treasury to the two offices is spent on rent, furniture, entertainment, cars, travel, communication and staffs.
In addition, both Margaret and Rachael receive monthly allowances from public coffers.
