Uhuru-Ruto Union Facing Problems, Says Senator Kipchumba Murkomen
Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has admitted that the relationship between President Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto is getting rocky.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV, the Elgeyo-Marakwet senator, a confidant of Deputy President Ruto, claimed that some people in President Kenyatta's office were behind the growing disquiet in the ruling party.
"We have discovered, after research, that some people in the president’s office are leaking information that has been used to propagate propaganda (against Ruto)," he alleged, but declined to name the individuals.
He added: "Let me be very frank, I believe that the investment ‘those people’ are putting in to drive a wedge between the president and his deputy is so huge and to a great extent it is creating faults. The concerns that these people exist and work in the president’s office is obvious."
He said the unnamed officials are misguiding President Kenyatta with an attempt to break Jubilee and block Ruto's 2022 presidential ambition.
"They lie to the president telling him that his only legacy will be the Big Four Agenda. I think an honest presidency, a united government count for much as well," the Elgeyo Marakwet senator said.
''They are the ones sponsoring stories in the newspapers and using other people in an attempt to break the party. Their only motive is to contain Ruto and stop him from making it to presidency,'' he added.
