President Uhuru Picks Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Stelu Lekolool as His New Aide-de-Camp

President Kenyatta has picked Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Stelu Lekolool from Kenya Navy as his new Aide-de-Camp (ADC).

He will now be the President's personal assistant, helping him on matters touching on security, protocol and military tradition.

Lekolool's appointment was announced by Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU) in a tweet on Tuesday.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta has a new Aide-de-Camp (ADC) – Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Stelu Lokolool. Welcome to State House,” tweeted PSCU.

Lokolool takes over from Lt Col Victor Mburu who served as President Kenyatta’s Aide-de-Camp since August 2017. Mburu had replaced Col. Peter Njiru, who was President Kenyatta’s ADC for over five years.

Acting State House spokesperson Kanze Dena told Citizen TV that Lt-Col Mburu left the position for advanced military studies.

ADC is normally a highly-trained and senior military officer and is required to be aware of the president’s itinerary apart from guarding him. He is also supposed to accompany the President whenever he goes.

Other roles include carrying the President's personal items such as mobile phones, pens, books and speeches.
