Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko Confesses to Making Money through Dubious Deals
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has admitted to making money through dubious deals in his youthful years.
Speaking during a function at Nairobi's Kangemi area on Saturday, Sonko said he's now a changed person and promised to put his all attention to ensuring the well-being of all city residents.
"I started making money a long time ago. I could do business when in high school, sold even land and engaged in dubious deals during those days. That life is now gone, it is now more than 20 years ago. I am now a changed person and that is why I am focused on protecting the properties and public resources for the good of the people of Nairobi," stated Governor Sonko.
The flamboyant Governor also read riot act on county officials engaging in corruption stating that no one will be spared if found to be involved in the vice. Sonko vowed no public funds will be stolen from City Hall during his tenure.
"I will not be arrested like Governor Ojaamong just because of your theft. I know you and I will make sure you go to jail before that happens to me. Even those who are bribing members of the county assembly to intimidate me I will not spare you. You will go to jail," he warned.
"When I hired you [City Hall staff] you were slender but right now you have turned wealthy, with big bellies. I will demand that you explain how you've gained so much weight over such a short time," he added.
