Police in Nairobi have apprehended seven suspected conmen posing as staff from office of Deputy President William Ruto.

The seven were arrested in a house in Nairobi's Loresho estate, where they have reportedly been operating from. More than 700 laptops and three cars bearing fake government stickers were recovered during the operation on Monday night.

A Rift Valley politician is believed to be the owner of the  house where the suspects were nabbed. Police said the seven have been masquerading as officers from the office of the Deputy President to defraud unsuspecting Kenyans of millions of shillings.

Also found during the arrest was a document showing that the suspects had inked a deal of lending goods worth about Sh317 million. The seized cars had fake car pass stickers similar to those used by the DP in his convoy.

The laptops estimated to be worth around Sh320 million had been secured from businessman Stephen Musyoka on the pretext they would be supplied to Ruto's office.
