Deputy President William Ruto on Monday carried Sh10 million cash in a bag to a goat auction held in Kajiado County.

The Deputy President said the cash was for purchase of 1,400 goats at the event where one animal was going for Sh7,500. There were 3, 500 goats up for grabs.

He said the goats belongs to him and President Uhuru Kenyatta with each contributing Sh5 million for 700 goats.

“Mdosi wangu anaitwa Uhuru Kenyatta; rais wa Jamhuri ya Kenya. Na wale mnaojua, ako na dunia kubwa ya kulisha. So, mdosi ameniambia nimnunulie mbuzi mia saba. Hiyo ni shilingi millioni tano. Si ni namna hiyo?” said DP Ruto.

He added: “Na mimi, kama mtu yake ya mkono, nanunua mbuzi mia saba; na hiyo ni shilingi millioni tano.”

Ruto then called one his aides to bring a backpack containing the amount and handed it over to Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, who organized the auction.

“Take the money, I do not want any case filed against me,” Ruto told Governor Lenku.

Cash raised during the auction will be used to help Kajiado residents sign up for National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

Ruto is known for carrying huge amounts of cash to different events including fundraisers and goat auctions.

Last December, the DP spent a whooping Sh12 million for 1,000 goats at the Kimalel goat auction in Baringo County. Each got was valued at Sh12,000.

“Chukua hiyo bag, kuna 12 million hapo ndani," he said at the time as he handed over a brown suitcase.
