A pregnant university student in Migori Governor Okoth Obado's love saga has been found dead, two days after she was abducted from a hotel in Rongo town.

26-year-old Sharon Otieno was abducted together with a Nation journalist Barack Oduor who was pursuing her story that reportedly implicated Governor Obado in a love triangle.

The lifeless body of Sharon was found on Wednesday morning dumped in Kodera Forest, Homa Bay County. She was a second-year student at Rongo University in Migori and the first-born in a family of four.

Homa Bay Police boss Marius said her body was taken to Rachuonyo Sub-county District Hospital mortuary. She was seven months pregnant.

Sharon had allegedly met the journalist at a hotel in Rongo on Monday night to share her story on how Governor Okoth Obado had impregnated and abandoned her.

It is at the said venue where the two were kidnapped by unknown men, but the journalist managed to escape a few hours later.

In a recorded statement with Nyanza Regional CID Coordinator, the journalist narrated how he was abducted but managed to jump out of the moving car at Nyangweso Market Centre in Rangwe constituency. He was badly injured and currently admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu.

On Tuesday, police arrested Governor Obado's personal assistant Michael Oyamo in connection with the abduction.

In a statement on Wednesday, government spokesperson Eric Kiraithe said suspects in the abduction will be brought to book.

“It now appears that his abduction was an attempted murder…we take this opportunity to assure the public and the media fraternity in particular that this matter will be expeditiously investigated,” Kiraithe said.
